Institutional Cooperation
Planning an Institutional Visit to China
Give a delegation a clear purpose, a workable agenda and defined responsibilities.

Set the purpose of the visit
Decide whether the visit is for academic exchange, technical learning, supplier exploration or discussion of a cooperation project. Define the questions you need answered and the decisions you hope to inform.
Prepare a short delegation brief: organisation, participants and roles, relevant expertise, preferred period and expected outcomes. Share only material appropriate for the prospective hosts.
Build an agenda around confirmed access
Keep proposed meetings distinct from accepted appointments. Allow time for travel between sites, interpretation and a meaningful discussion rather than an overloaded itinerary.
Confirm access rules, photography permissions, technical topics and any confidentiality expectations with each host. A visit does not itself constitute a partnership agreement.
Plan what happens afterwards
Assign an owner for meeting notes, open questions and follow-up actions. Agree an internal review after the visit so useful contacts can become clearly scoped next steps.
